Meadowcroft is in a great location for exploring the Lakes District, less than 20-30 minutes drive to Windermere, Ambleside, Hawkshead and Coniston. As an old building, it had a few creaks, but also lots of charm and was pleasantly decorated. The rooms are good-sized by UK standards, very clean and comfortable (including the bed), with lots of storage space. Bathroom was good sized and had plenty of towels (washcloths and hand towels and bath towel for each person!), which is an unexpected luxury in the UK. Good water pressure and plenty of hot water. Breakfast was great - very generous continental breakfast offerings, plus full flexibility in terms of mixing and matching amongst the hot offerings. Breakfast room was bright and cheerful. It was also lovely to have a sitting room upstairs that guests could use, with a comfy sofa, tv, microwave and extra dishes. As we had to leave early our last morning (before breakfast service started), the team were very happy to let us use the upstairs fridge to store continental breakfast things overnight, so we could still have breakfast. Very easy and accommodating check-in process, even for a late arrival. Although not really in town, there is a fun pub just a few minutes walk away, so we didn't have to drive into town for dinner if we didn't want to. Debbie was very entertaining - a born host!

We would award 20 stars for this wonderful accommodation if we could... Completely faultless from check in to check out and the best place we have ever had the pleasure to stay. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the bedroom was immaculate and very comfortable with an astonishing amount of storage. Everything we could have wished for was supplied, tea, coffee, sugar, milk etc.. Plus there was a little lounge where we could relax with a reading book, play cards or just sit and think how fortunate we were to have found this gem of a place to stay. There was ample parking outside and the location was just perfect with a lovely river flowing past nearby and a very good pub just two minutes away which provided food and drink of the highest quality where we were made very welcome. Our hosts at Meadowcroft were Debbie and Jackie who are two lovely ladies who provided an excellent breakfast every morning in their first class dining room which wouldn't look out of place in a top hotel. They certainly know how to look after their guests and we came away with the feeling that we had made two new friends. We highly recommend this accommodation and will be returning in 2025.. The Guest House is very well decorated clean and fresh. Our bedroom was a good size very comfortable bed with a TV and tea and coffee facilities. Excellent shower is very powerful in a separate cubicle. There is a small lounge for guests to use with a fridge and microwave. Very nice dining room and breakfast was excellent with friendly accommodating staff. Looked a bit out of the way on the map but perfect location as a base for touring the lakes. Bus stop outside. Londis supermarket next door at the garage that stocks most things you might want including food and drinks. Five min walk to a lovely pub that had a good choice of drinks and great food menu. What we had was excellent. On site car park We were very pleased with our choice and happy to recommend.

Very comfortable, relaxing place. Fabulous rural setting only a few miles from Windemere and Kendal. Pet friendly but spotlessly clean. Lovely breakfast with high quality produce served with a warm welcome and big smile by Debbie, Jackie and the team. Very popular with international guests: we met people from Australia and America. An unexpected bonus was a microwave and fridge in the lounge which were very handy for making meals and storing fresh milk. Garage and shop nearby along with microbrewery pub. Everything you need for an enjoyable stay. We will definitely be returning.

We stay here often and are never disappointed. The rooms are all tastefully furnished and spotless. All comforts are here. The breakfast is excellent - good choice and plentiful, cooked to perfection. The hostesses are friendly and attentive to make sure the guests are well looked after. The proximity of the local pub makes the whole visit a very pleasant experience. I recommend!
